The Samsung Epic 4G is an excellent smart phone with access to the new 4G network. The 4G network features the fastest wireless internet available for a phone. In addition, the phone features a slide out keyboard, a one gigahertz processor, an extremely vibrant screen, and a powerful camera. A number of useful applications make the phone great for social networking, and multimedia access through the phone is extraordinary. With an easy to understand touchscreen interface, the phone is considered to be the best option available in the Samsung Galaxy S series.

For starters, the Samsung Epic 4G offers excellent battery life with its lithium ion battery, rated for seven and a half hours of talk time and twenty one days of standby time. The one gigahertz processor on board gives the phone a very responsive feel. There are very few pauses when pushing buttons and accessing programs. The phone’s screen changes very fast when being turned on its side. The phone can also be silenced by placing it on its face.

This phone has a high quality camera that records pictures and video in full HD. The images are extremely vibrant, and in low light situations an extremely effective LED flash captures images in the dark. Images are captured with a sharp quality and a full color spectrum. The camera also has features to detect smiles and blinks, it comes with a panorama mode, and ISO adjustment. For image display, the touchscreen offers high resolution and sixteen million colors. Images and video are displayed in high contrast, and the screen can be easily viewed in the sunlight. This is the ideal screen for watching top quality videos and viewing images.

In addition to some of the basic features expected from a smart phone such as conference calling, Bluetooth connectivity, internet access, multimedia messaging, text messaging, GPS, speakerphone, voice dialing, Wi-Fi, and a visual voice mail system, the phone also has access to the fastest internet connection available for mobile phones. The 4G network allows you to access the internet at high speeds. This phone can be tethered to provide internet up to five separate devices. The Social Hub Feature allows you to take in contacts from your email and social media sites. A video chat application allows you to talk over a video connection as well.

Recommended Samsung Epic 4G accessories include wireless Bluetooth headsets for safe driving and car chargers so that you don’t have to worry about whether or not the phone was charged in the home in order to keep it charged. Samsung Epic 4G screen protectors are highly recommended in order to prevent scratches and grime from accumulating on the touchscreen display after extended use. Earphones are a must for listening to music and watching movies on the phone. Samsung Epic 4G cases are also highly recommended in order to protect the phone from damage in the event that it is dropped on the floor.

Recently, 2 of the most recognizable smart phone companies, Motorola and HTC, created new phones that have gotten lots of high remarks: Motorola Droid X and the HTC Evo 4G. Both of these are stacked with tons of features and run on the same operating system Android 2.1 which allows you to run many programs at the same time. But which smart phone is better? Let’s find out.
The Motorola Droid X is a pretty cool looking cell phone and comes with a OMAP 3630 1 GHz processor which is thought by many to be the most powerful on the market and is the reason why this smart phone is the best multitasking phone, letting you run multiple applications at one time. Some of the most noticeable features of the phone are its large 4.3″ 720p HD touch screen and up to 40GB of storage: 8GB inside plus up to 32GB on MicroSD card. Droid is aslo equipped with an 8 megapixel camera, DLNA compatibility with HDMI Micro out, 3G capabilities, and 3 microphones for noise cancellation and better call quality. This smart phone can also be used as a hot spot, which means that you can connect other phones to the internet through this phone.

Now let’s examine the HTC Evo 4G. As you can probably tell from its name, it has 4G compatibility, which is pretty nice. Similar to the Motorola, the HTC has a 4.3” HD screen and can be used as a hot spot. It has an HDMI port which lets you connect the cell phone to a large TV, which is really good for watching movies. It has an 8 MP camera in the back and another, 1.3MP camera in the front, which is very useful for video calling. While the 4G makes the internet faster, where available, it’s not available everywhere and does make you pay a more expansive cell phone bill. It also has a 1 GHz Snapdragon central processing unit, which is one of the fastest processors out there and supports multitasking, but it just isn’t as fast as the Droid’s.

From this you can tell that both, the Droid X and the Evo 4G, have tons of similar features so it was tough to choose the best phone. But after examining all of the specifications, I was finally able to make the choice. Find out what it was at HTC Evo vs Motorola Droid X. Here you’ll also see a more complete comparison of the features as well as pictures and videos of the two phones.

While AT&T has the veritable lock on the iPhone and BlackBerry, T-Mobile seems to be the wireless carrier poised to introduce the long-awaited Google Android operating system to the worldwide smartphone community. This according to the New York Times.

As RIM, Palm, Microsoft (with its Windows Mobile), and Symbian duke it out with industry leader, Apple and its Mac Mobile OS X, the Google Android OS looks like the singular contender most likely to unseat the current smartphone king.

The first Google Android smartphone will be manufactured by the leading smartphone maker in the world, High Tech Computer Corp, better known to the average consumer as HTC, makers of the original “iPhone Killer”, the HTC Touch and it’s follow-up, the HTC Touch Pro. Its name will be the HTC Dream.

The Google Android mobile OS, announced last November (2007) is the search giant’s effort to improve internet performance on smartphone devices. Chances are the company that seems to know the internet best is best positioned to optimize the mobile web. But one interesting question still lingering in both consumers’ and analysts’ minds is how the smartphone OS will perform as an actual telephone.

Lest any smartphone users forget (and we wouldn’t blame you one bit if you did, with all the distracting bells-and-whistles smartphones come with these days), they are first-and-foremost cell phones. And the best maker of cell phones in terms of consistency, reliability, and clarity of call quality is Nokia. So until we see a Nokia smartphone on the Google Android OS, we may never know how good it can really get.

Google said it will make its Android OS available for free to any smartphone maker that wants to use it. And, like the iPhone, it aims to appeal to consumers, business users, and enterprise customers alike by providing unlimited software downloads for free, allowing users the ultimate in device personalization and customization.

And despite “mum” being the sole word the insiders have on the subject, so far we do know that the HTC Dream will boast both a slideout touchscreen and a full 5-row QWERTY keyboard. It promises to be the closest to a miniature computer that smartphones currently come. Other companies that have announced plans to release a Google Android powered smartphone include Sprint (the world’s 3rdleading carrier, next to 4th placer T-Mobile) and Qualcomm.

This collaboration of Google, T-Mobile, and HTC looks clearly like a team to contend with. With its Touch Pro model, HTC has already given Apple and its 3G iPhone a run for its money. And T-Mobile continues to stay competitive with a practically unbeatable price point.

Though T-Mobile and Google are both keeping silent on the subject, rumors have it that the new device will be available for US customers to purchase as soon as October and probably no later than this Christmas.

I like the Samsung Vibrant because of its magnificent four inch AMOLED display, its sleek and modernistic design, and its extensive offerings for entertainment and creativity. The four inch display is simply a marvel to look at. I have never seen a display that was so life like on a smart phone; the amount of detail visible on the screen is nothing short of amazing. And because it’s anti reflective, if I want to watch a video a friend sent me, or play a game I’ve been trying to beat, or even just sit down and have a good read, I can do any of these things whether I’m indoors or outdoors in bright sunlight. And thanks to the wide variety of Samsung Vibrant screen protetors available online or in stores, I can carry my Vibrant with me and enjoy the beautiful display without any concern for surface damage.

The second reason I like the Samsung Vibrant is because of its sleek and modernistic design. The Vibrant is exceptionally light and exceptionally fun to look at. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a slimmer smart phone. Its thin, light, and attractive design makes me want to take it everywhere with me, and whenever I show it off in public, I attract viewers. I’ve never thought about a phone as being fashionable before, but with my Vibrant, I realize I’m holding something stylish in my hands, and so do all of my friends. And thanks to the wide variety of Samsung Vibrant accessories available online or in stores, if there’s anything I need for my Vibrant, such as a case to keep it from getting scratched while I use it, I can purchase accessories to ensure my Vibrant continues to look sleek and modernistic.

The third reason I like the Samsung Vibrant is because of its extensive offerings for entertainment and creativity. I was delighted to hear that every Vibrant came included with the blockbuster hit Avatar, the 3D film that impressed audiences throughout the world. Now I can watch it whenever I want, thanks to my Vibrant! And every movie I watch will be available with a spectacular 3D sound system inside the phone. And when I don’t feel like watching movies, I can put on The Sims 3 Mobile Edition, which also comes with every Vibrant. Or if I feel like reading something, there are potentially 600,000 different books I can select from the Amazon Kindle application that comes with Android and my Vibrant. And thanks to the wide variety of Samsung Vibrant batteries available online or in stores, I can take my Vibrant with me everywhere I go, safe with the knowledge that I’ll have a back-up battery just in case my Vibrant’s battery is running low.

Android-A software stack for mobile devices that includes an operating system, middleware and key applications. Based on Open Source solutions (in particular, Linux kernel) it provides an easy integration with other Google services (maps, shopping, search).
The Android SDK includes a comprehensive set of development tools such as debugger, libraries, a handset emulator (based on QEMU), documentation, sample code, and tutorials.

Android isn’t just for cellphones anymore. Which means that there will come a day when Android is more important than the iPhone, more important than Windows, and more important than any one device.

Android is an open source operating system created by Google for primary use on smartphones, and is currently in use on many cellphones such as the Motorola Droid, the HTC Droid Eris, the HTC Hero, the HTC Desire, the MyTouch 3G Slide, and the Dell Streak.

Recently there’s been a developer release of the Android operating system for use on the x86 archictecture, which will eventually allow Android to be ported to tablets, netbooks and even onto laptops and desktops, as well as onto many other devices, such as set-top boxes, video game systems, home control systems and other things not even thought of yet.

Android is written in Java on a modified version of the Linux kernel. Because of its open architecture, it’s easy for developers to build applications to run on the Android operating system. Unlike the Apple closed architecture, with its draconian gatekeepers, anyone capable of coding can write an application to run on Android. And if Google’s rules are followed, that application will be made available to all Android users.

What that means to you is that if you want your cellphone to do something it doesn’t currently do, and there isn’t an Android application that does it, you have the ability to contract with a developer to have an application built that will allow your cellphone to do exactly what you want, though there are also developer groups who, if the idea is a great one, may take your project on in exchange for the ability to put their name on it and offer servicing and customization of that application, which is the way open source works. The sky is the limit!

As of this writing there are approximately two Android phones activated per second. Because Android is offered on so many great phones, with many new ones to be launched soon, it won’t be long before Android phones hold a greater market share than any other operating system on any other phone, including the iPhone, especially since the Android 2.2 Froyo release supports Adobe Flash, a sticking point with the iPhone and other cellphones. Android 2.2 Froyo is right now being rolled out to the Nexus One, and will soon be available for most other Android phones.

A beatdown is about to go down in Silicon Valley, and Apple is just about to get crushed.

Steve Jobs’ reign of terror and selling customers their own socks is just about to come to a screeching halt. The previous two iterations of the iPhone have been utterly disappointing, with Apple adding slightly more battery life, faster processors, better cameras, and a higher resolution screen. That is it. Nothing I would consider magical, however just enough to get Apple fanboys off the computer and into a long line only to find out the cellular phone they required to survive was totally under produced. The biggest features of the iPhone 4 — multitasking and adding backgrounds, things Google had integrated into Android from day one. So, if you are looking for something genuinely magical this cell phone season, you better take the Droid X for a test drive. The price is also just right for the Droid X, coming in at $199, which leaves enough room to purchase Motorola Droid X accessories.

Droid X, the brainchild of Google, verizon, adobe and motorola is what the iPhone 4 ought to be And, thanks to Steve Jobs’ refusal to cooperate nicely with other businesses (eg, barring Adobe Flash, and refusing to build a Verizon-compatible iPhone), the Motorola Droid X is probably just the ticket Google has been wanting for to eat into Apple’s healthy share of the smartphone market. In a report available by market research firm comScore in April, Google went from owning 3.8% of the cellular phone market in November 2009 to owning a cool 9% of the cell phone market in February 2010. Apple, on the other hand, controlled a little higher than 25% of the handset market in that same time frame. Here’s where the Motorola Droid X comes in.

The Motorola Droid X features an 8-megapixel camera, Adobe Flash compatibility (a VERY big deal), a Wi-Fi hotspot that connects up to 5 devices, Swype compatibility (a clever keyboard program that’ll make poking a digital keyboard a less stressful experience), and an HDMI output. Also, the Droid X will feature a spectacular 4.3in LCD screen, which you will probably want to protect it with a Droid X screen protector. Finally this is an absolute iPhone killer, and if Google can boost on nearly 5% more marketshare in 3 months without a product leading the charge, I have to imagine that the Droid X can lift Google’s ownership of the cell phone market to a realistic fifteen-percent by the end of 2010, potentially swiping some marketshare away from Apple.

And one of the biggest selling points as we enter the next era of mobile phones — the price. Thanks to Verizon, the Droid X will have a $30 infinite data plan, unlike AT&T, which recently announced it will start slapping some serious price penalties on new smartphone users who use more 2 gigabytes of data per month. For those of you with an iPhone, that’s not projected to be a whole lot of Netflix movies when you leave the friendly confines of your Wi-Fi.

So, before blindly throwing any more money at Apple, check out the more geek-friendly and genuinely revolutionary The Motorola Droid X

T-mobile has come out of the gate with a cellular phone intended to replace its aging Sidekick series. The Mytouch slide leads the family of new MyTouch series cell phones developed by HTC. It features a full QWERTY keyboard, a huge touchscreen, and the Google Android OS.

The best aspects of the T-mobile mytouch 3g slide are in the design and hardware. The handset comes with a reusable, strong plastic case instead of the zippered pouch of previous models. It won’t acquire any awards, though, so most users will still be looking for myTouch 3G Slide cases soon after purchase. The Slide is available in three color choices: black, white, and dark red. The phone is shipped with the standard USB/wall charger and a USB data cable. This model also comes with headset.

The mytouch slide is a little bigger than its brothers since it houses the full keyboard. It measures 4.55” long x 2.37” wide x .6” thick. There has been few complaints on the size as customers prefer the easy-to-use keyboard with plenty of space between each key. For those few who don’t like the keyboard, the virtual keyboard can be used.

The display on the myTouch 3G Slide is 3.4” and features multi-touch capability. This is a draw back, as nearly all Android-based phones have at least a 3.7” display. Though, it is an improvement over the old models of MyTouch 3G pda phone. The upside is that the colors are crisp and clear, and it can be viewed in direct sunlight. A MyTouch Slide screen protector is suggested to keep the LCD from getting scratched.

Under the display are the hardware buttons. The Slide features 4 buttons: Home, Menu, Back, and the new “Genius” button. The right side of the phone also has a camera button, and there is a volume control on the left. The power button and headphone jack (3.5mm) are on the top, whereas the USB cable connects to the bottom.

On the software side, the Slide is run by Android 2.1 with a promise of a free upgrade to 2.2 sometime in the near future. The user interface is custom-designed for the phone and is similar to the HTC Sense. The phone is great for using with social networking web sites. It automatically updates contact information from the networks and provides a Friend Stream for new status updates and links posted by friends.

The MyModes feature of the phone allows users to customize their homepage for work or for play with all-different widgets, apps, and wallpapers for each. The Genius button, brought up earlier, is used with Android to turn it into a voice-command system. The system is buggy at first, but as it learns your voice, it improves over time.

The phone also features a 5-megapixel camera. The camera works best outdoors. Indoor photos are noisy and dark.

Overall, the performance of the Slide 3G is very impressive. The OS doesn’t lag and internet speed is fast. The price is right, too, at less than $200. This will leave plenty of money for extra T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide acessories.

After weeks of using the stock myTouch 3G Slide operating system, Android users can rejoice. The phone has been rooted by an enterprising modder known under the handle Eugene373. The rooting process is a bit involved and inelegant, but myTouch owners can finally have some more control over their device. So if you have decked out your device’s exterior with all of the myTouch 3G Slide accessories and myTouch 3g Slide cases available, you can now personalize its interior with a custom Android operating system. But just what is rooting, however, and what does this mean for the average user?

At its most basic, rooting a phone is essentially unshackling it from any arbitrary restrictions that the manufacturer or carrier has placed on it. Rooting allows you to modify system settings that may have previously been locked, enable additional features, and even install custom ROMs (basically operating systems). Now for a lot of phones (especially non-smartphones) rooting serves little to no purpose. With the Android operating system, however, rooting provides scores of new possibilities for customization and added functionality. A rooted Android operating system will allow you to change system settings, delete obnoxious applications that came with your phone, backup your files and texts, and even potentially overclock the phone’s cpu to reach new levels of performance!

Plus, a rooted Android phone allows you to install new applications that you may not otherwise be able to. For example, with a tethering app you would be able to use your myTouch 3g Slide as a wireless access point for other WiFi devices! Root access also enables you to use more advanced versions of common utilities such as memory managers and backup software. So if you have decided to protect your device from scratches with a myTouch 3g Slide screen protector, why not go all the way and protect its data as well with backup apps?

If you do decide to root your myTouch 3g Slide, just be careful. Rooting a phone is not without its risks. It does, after all, require that you access critical system files and that you be familiar with command prompt. If you happen to make a mistake while rooting, it could damage your phone irreparably. However, if the benefits of rooting outweigh the risks for you, go ahead and go through with it. If you follow the instructions that have been posted by the original modder on various Android sites and forums exactly, the entire rooting process should go smoothly.

So if custom Android operating systems, improved functionality, and additional killer apps appeal to you, you may want to consider rooting your myTouch 3g Slide. If, however, the entire process seems a bit daunting and your phone already does anything you could possibly want; that’s fine too. The myTouch 3g Slide is still an exceptional Android device regardless.
